Several brands of dog treats have been recalled due to the salmonella contamination involving peanut butter. Some pet foods and treats contain the tainted peanut butter.
Dozens of foods - including pet food and pet treats - have been recalled as a result of the peanut butter salmonella scare. The recalled pet foods and treats all contain peanut butter from the Peanut Corporation of America's manufacturing plant in Georgia where some of the peanut butter was found to be contaminated with salmonella. Two brands of dog treats were added to the list of recalled pet foods in early February 2009: Carolina Prime Dog Treats and Healthy Hide Dog Treats. These two pet treat brands join the list of recalled dog foods, which also includes Grreat Choice Dog Biscuits, Puppy Chow Dog Treats and Healthy Choice Multi Flavored Dog Biscuits. Notably, the Healthy Hide Peanut Butter Beef Shank (6-inch) was not included in the list of recalled treats from PetSmart; it was included on the list of recalled treats by the Carolina Prime Dog Treat manufacturer.
